Playing Clubs
The following clubs shall make up the “league” in its inaugural season 2010:
•Woking & Horsell Cricket Club
•Chobham Cricket Club
•Old Woking Cricket Club
•Guildford City
•Woking Tigers
•Woking Cricket Club
Rules of the Competition
•The league competition shall be run between Wednesday 19 May - 21 July
•The top 4 sides will be invited to attend the “Network League Challenge Cup” six a side tournament to be held at OWCC ground on the 4 August. The final venue to be rotated each season to a different club
•All rewards ad trophies will be presented at the “NCC” evening
•Each club must register a list of players with the league secretary prior to the start of the season. The list to be submitted to all sides prior to the competition starting. Additional players can be added to that list but must be registered with the league secretary 1 week prior to playing
•A player cannot play for more than one club in the league or be transferred to another club in the league
•Each team must submit a team sheet on the day of the match, prior to the game proceeding. Only nominated players on the team sheet can play in that match
•Each team will try to supply an umpire and a scorer, if a neutral umpire is attained then he may umpire both end if happy to do so
•Each side must provide an orange ball (Dukes) for their own innings in each match. Should an orange ball be lost during an innings then a traditional red ball can be used if no other orange balls are available; for the remainder of the innings
•A match will consist of each team playing 20 over’s/ Subject to playing conditions alterations to a 12 or 14 over match to be agreed by the captains before play begins
•Matches will be played on Wednesdays. If ground commitments or acceptable circumstances do not allow the playing of the fixture on that day; the clubs involved can play the game on a Tuesday
•If at 6.30pm both sides have a minimum of 8 players the match commences. A team not ready to take the field at 6.30pm will forfeit the toss. If at 6.45pm on side does not have 8 players they must forfeit the points. Any match starting later than 6.45pm will be a maximum of 14 over’s
•If any club fails top play a fixture, any costs incurred must be paid by the defaulting club
•In the event of a late start through bad weather the captains will decide the length of the game with every attempt being made to finish the match. It the side batting second are unable to complete their innings because of the weather, then the match will be considered abandoned and each side will be awarded two points
•Games not starting due to ground conditions arising from inclement weather, or abandoned because of the weather will result in two points being awarded to each side
•Four points will be awarded for an outright win
•Two points shall be awarded to each side for a tie
•The home side will communicate the match result, including abandoned matches to the results secretary by email using the template provided by Friday of the week that the match was played. Failure to do so will result in 1 point being deducted
•The league is governed by ECB rules and laws concerning fielding, bowling, batting and playing the match in accordance of the spirit of the game. Please note that if a delivery is bowled down leg side and considered to be in the playing arc of the batsman... it is not a wide delivery
•Batsman and close in fielders who are under the age of 18 MUST wear protective helmets and abide by the ECB fielding restrictions
•No bowler may bowl more than the following:
‣12 over match: 3 over’s per bowler
‣14 over match: 3 over’s per bowler
‣20 over match: 4 over’s per bowler
•If any bowler is unable to complete an over through, injury, illness or suspension, the over should be completed by another member of the team but not by the bowler who completed the last over, or a bowler who has completed their allocation of over’s
•In the event of a tie between clubs for a league position i.e. the clubs have equal points. The following factors will determine final league standing. The eventual position will be determined in order of priority by either:
‣Head to head results between the sides
‣Number of wins in the season
‣Net run rate
‣Number of wickets taken during the season
•It is the responsibility of each club to ensure that they have “insurance cover” for both players and members of the public against personal injury and damage to property
•If using council booked pitches, it is the responsibility of the club making the booking to pay for the pitch and collect and return the keys
•Each club are asked to contribute an entry fee of £25.00 to cover the cost of umpires, officials and trophies for the awards evening and Network Challenge Cup tournament. The cheque to made payable to the Network Cricket League to be deposited with the Midland Bank in the name of the “Network Cricket League”. Cheques drawn are to signed by two nominated officials (Jak Afzal, ANO)
